Have you always admired the beautiful Millefiori jewelry from Italy? In this class, you will learn how to create your very own intricate pendants and earrings! By placing the millefiori in ceramic molds, you will be able to create hearts, crosses, teardrops, ovals, circles, and many more! You will discover an exciting new way to combine “mashed millis” into tack fused dimensional pins and pendants, using stringers, twists and other Efferete (104 COE)- formerly known as Moretti- component parts. When you “mash” the hot milli, it becomes thinner and expands the design. The trick is in the squish and temperatures of the glass, and this class will teach you milli mashing along with using a variety of jewelry molds. Frit casting techniques will also be used to design jewelry in interesting mold shapes. Firing schedules for the various stages of fusing in this process will be discussed, such as firing in the ceramic molds, fire polishing, and tack fusing used for dimensional effects. We will also be discussing how to finish the pendants and earrings with several styles of bails as well as drilling for pinch bails.
